Iris Coffee Shop Official re-opening of St Martin’s Coffee shop
Bishop opens Coffee Shop The Bishop of Wolverhampton came to Stonydelph in October to officially open a newly-refurbished church coffee shop named in memory of a church member who died earlier this year. The Iris Lounge has been the project of our Mothers’ Union for the last two years as members worked to raise money and create a brand new welcoming environment. Iris Coffee Shop
Gate of Iris Coffee Shop The final money was given in memory of church member Iris Wedge, who died in May. Iris was a long time member of the church, and was its first lay reader.
The project was headed by Debbie Lewin, who led a team of volunteers in fundraising and in carrying out the work of refurbishment. They decided to name the new coffee shop in honour of Iris, who was a regular customer, and there is a new iris painting on the gate. It was officially opened by the Bishop of Wolverhampton Clive Gregory at a ceremony attended by church members.

Rev Ian Murray said: “It’s great to see the coffee shop transformed. Everyone has worked very hard to raise money and make it a really welcoming place.

"We hope people will come along and share a drink here." Iris' daughter Sonya Britton said: "I'd like to thank everyone who has worked so hard on this project, it is a really beautiful way of remembering my mum. She was a part of this church for 20 years and she loved spending time here in the coffee shop."
